Ozone is an FDA Approved Food Additive
In documented tests completed by the FDA, Ozone was shown to be the most effective "safe treatment" for food and beverages that are fit for human consumption. In the June 26, 2001 - Final Rule published in the Federal Register (21 CFR Part 173, Docket No. 00F-1482) "The FDA amends the food additive regulations to provide for the safe use of ozone in gaseous and aqueous phase as an anti-microbial agent on food, including meat and poultry."

Ozone is listed in the National Organic Program (NOP) final rule, which permits its use in processed products labeled as "organic" or "made with organic".
